POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Marketing Officer of Fusion Education Group will be an integral part of the senior executive team helping drive the school's growth and enrollment in current and new communities. The CMO will lead all facets of a well-funded marketing organization, currently consisting of ~seven core members and various agency relationships. The CMO will develop and enhance the strategic plans that will improve Fusion's reach and reputation. S/he will develop a targeted marketing approach utilizing social media, branding techniques, and improved testimonial and other video content (to name a few) to build awareness, bolster reputation and optimize inquiry generation.

THE COMPANY

Fusion Education Group was founded in 2007 as American Education Group (AEG) to support the growth of schools specializing in personalized learning. Peter Ruppert, AEG Founder, had a vision of bringing customization, personalization, and specialization to the education industry.

One of the first school models that AEG acquired was Barnstable Academy in Oakland, NJ. Their unique, small-class-size approach to a college-prep education fit the vision and continues to do so today. This year, Barnstable Academy celebrated their 40th anniversary as a school and their tenth year with Fusion Education Group.

In 2008, Ruppert heard about Fusion Academy in Solana Beach, CA and its one-to-one teaching model. From his first campus visit, he knew Fusion was special and could change the lives of thousands of students across the country. Soon, Fusion became part of AEG.

In 2010, AEG started to open additional Fusion campuses - taking care to stay true to the Fusion 'vibe' and its revolutionary mission. The first new campus opened in Los Angeles, CA and immediately met a pressing need for families and students.

By 2012, 12 more campuses were changing the lives of students in California and New York. Seeing the power of the Fusion approach to teaching and learning, a decision was made to focus entirely on Fusion and Barnstable Academy. As a reflection of that focus, the name was changed from American Education Group to Fusion Education Group in 2013.

Today, Fusion operates 50 campuses (and growing) across 12 states and the District of Columbia, serving nearly 5,000 students. Headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, Fusion operates revolutionary private middle and high schools that offer individualized education. Each classroom has one student and one teacher, allowing a personalized approach to each student's unique emotional and academic needs. THE POSITION

Based in Grand Rapids, MI, and reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Marketing Officer will lead the team analyzing, positioning, and building the brand strategy of Fusion Academy resulting in improved student enrollment. This position requires an ability to strategize at the executive table and drive results at each school level, equal parts thought and action. Fusion Education Group values entrepreneurialism and individuals who are willing to take calculated risks, learning both from defeats and successes, and making the necessary adjustments for future success.

Specifically, this individual will:

  • Pioneer a company-wide (national) marketing campaign and drive market awareness based upon thought leadership in the personalized learning space - ultimately improving mature school enrollment alongside new school enrollment
  • Utilize strategic leadership to both manage a marketing department and various support agencies as well as influence >50 school leaders and admission/outreach officers nationwide
  • Increase company revenues 25% in the first year with the goal of growing 2.5x in 5 years
  • Create and develop a repeatable marketing roadmap with regard to opening new schools/markets, increasing inquiry volume to drive enrollment from minimum student numbers to schools opening at break-even student numbers
  • Work in conjunction with schools to improve intake and enrollment analytics, including training local stakeholders on key points as necessary
  • Develop sales training support as well as other necessary support for campus admissions teams
  • Enhance, refine, and improve Fusion marketing, brand strategy and positioning, thereby creating a major strategic advantage nationwide
  • Contribute to strategic marketing planning in the long-term goal to take Fusion schools international, beginning in North America

COMPENSATION

Compensation will include salary, performance bonus, and significant equity commensurate with the individual's experience and track record of success.

TRAVEL

Travel will be in no more than 25% in a year.
